For Vini: The Music - A Special Homecoming Performance

For Vini: The Music - A Special Homecoming Performance

Following the acclaimed return album Renascent and sold-out South Bank Centre performances, a unique ensemble celebrates the music of Vini Reilly in Manchester.

For half a century, The Durutti Column have occupied a musical realm entirely of their own, blending Vini Reilly's unmistakable guitar work with ambient textures, spatial rhythms, post-punk minimalism and moments of profound emotional resonance. This year saw the group's unexpected and widely celebrated return with Renascent, their first new studio album in over a decade.

Released via London Records, Renascent has been hailed as not only one of The Durutti Column's finest records, but one of the standout albums of 2026. Reviews have been uniformly enthusiastic, with Mojo describing it as "beautifully realised and deeply moving", while Uncut praised its "quietly breathtaking ambition and grace". Record Collector called it "a late-career triumph", and Classic Pop hailed it as "one of the year's essential listens".

The Durutti Column's music returns home to Manchester for a special one-night-only performance at Albert Hall on Thursday 19 November 2026.

The South Bank concerts saw producer and musical director Keir Stewart and longtime Durutti Column drummer Bruce Mitchell assemble a unique group of musicians to celebrate the band’s extraordinary catalogue. For the Albert Hall concert, Stewart (guitar, bass, samples and keyboards) and Mitchell (drums and percussion) will once again be joined by a cast of close collaborators including Caoilfhionn Rose (vocals, piano), Liz Rossi (violin) and Sam Morris (French horn, piano).

Together, the ensemble will reinterpret key works spanning The Durutti Column's remarkable six-decade career, from the pioneering Factory Records years through to material from Renascent, creating a rare and immersive live experience that honours one of Manchester's most singular musical voices.

The Albert Hall performance represents a fitting homecoming for music that has shaped generations of artists while remaining defiantly unique. For longtime followers and newer audiences discovering the band through Renascent, it promises an unforgettable evening celebrating the enduring legacy of The Durutti Column.

Tickets go on sale this Friday 11 September 2026 at 10:00 BST via SeeTickets.
